What is Ear Microsuction? Microsuction is a safe and gentle method of removing earwax using a small suction tube and probe to carefully extract any excess wax from your ear canal. Why is it needed? Earwax is naturally produced to protect your ears, but sometimes it can build up and harden, blocking the ear canal. This buildup can cause discomfort, hearing loss, or other ear-related problems if left untreated. Microsuction is an effective way to safely remove this excess wax. Our staff have received specialized microsuction training through Tympa Health, experts in audiology and earwax removal. During your appointment, our pharmacists use the Tympa Health earwax removal kit to ensure a professional and comfortable experience. PLEASE NOTE: Before you book our earwax removal service, ensure you have been using olive oil ear spray for a week or more before your appointment as this will allow the wax to be soft enough to be removed in your appointment. (If you have not done this and the wax is too hard to be removed within the appointment, we may have to rearrange your appointment for after a further week of usage.) What to expect during your Earwax Microsuction appointment: A free ear health check and hearing test to assess whether your earwax is soft enough for removal by microsuction. If the wax is too hard, we will advise you to use olive oil wax-softening spray for at least a week and book a follow-up appointment for microsuction once the wax has softened. If your earwax is soft, the pharmacist will gently insert the suction tube and probe to remove the wax safely from one or both ears.
